Diorama #7

At the request of my friend, Roli, in October 2016 I started working on a new diorama (the 7th one) that was to be placed for several months in the display window of his store in Baia Mare, Cucubau. The themes imposed for this diorama by the store’s sales policy were very different, as LEGO Friends and LEGO Nexo Knights have theoretically nothing in common, however, I managed to separate and still create a link between the two parts of the same work. Thus, I designed the Nexo area as a reenactment or theater play with the figurines as actors of the siege of the evil Jestro’s castle by the Nexo Knights.

The formal battle between the two armies takes place on a muddy field crossed by lava and is watched with interest from a raised and tiered platform by a lot of viewers – the Friends figurines. The platform is part of the attractions of a Friends amusement park.

The 2016 topic of the LEGO Friends official sets was the amusement park. In this area I have also created a mountain camp, a farm, a horse riding yard, and several shops. Both sides of the diorama are crossed by a railway that has several dead-end tracks in a shipyard area and is even burned and melted by the lava in the Nexo area, where I have also created a Nexo train station. The trains run through Jestro’s castle via a tunnel, and at each passing the tunnel and the castle are illuminated with the help of several LED lights and a motion sensor. For the month of December the train will be a more special one, the Winter Holiday Train.

I finished the work in November 2016, and on the night of its setting up in the display window the professionals of Roland Studio took 5000 photos from several angles, from which they created an interesting Time-lapse video.
