Diorama #2

Mounted on December 5th 2014, it is composed of two main parts, a medieval town and an area with two castles in conflict.

I received the courtesy of Grigore Tomoiaga with the work “Mountain Lodge”, famous in the LEGO exhibitions both in the country and abroad, the courtesy of Dragos Hriscu from Bacau with a very rare official LEGO set nowadays, The Taj Mahal, which holds the record for the most numerous pieces in a LEGO set (5922) and it has a value of around 1500 euros currently.

The town also includes a campsite with the police station in the forest, a train station, an airport runway, a lake with its water springing from rocks, mountain cottages and a town with winter scenes, including a ski slope. The town is crossed by a motorized LEGO train. During Christmas time, the wagons are filled with Santa Claus’s gifts along with the LEGO Reindeer and Snowman.

The medieval area includes the Castle of King Mathias, including the treasure cave and the King’s chaise, the Mean King’s castle and his dragon, with the carriage transporting prisoners and siege-battle scene between the armies of the two castles. The medieval scene was separated from the modern town through a high cliff covered with woods.

King Mathias’s Castle was designed in Diorama #1 as a castle standing on a high cliff, which had to allow the passing of a train under this construction. The tunnel was closed and on one of its sides I’ve built a treasure cave. The castle has several defense systems. The first is a retractable bridge overcrossing the lake. The entrance gate of the fort also has a portcullis (lattice) and two defense towers with a balcony. The bridge and the lattice can be raised and let down with the help of some windlass through an incorporated mechanism. The prison of the castle is also situated at the entrance in a separate room.

After going up several flights of stairs, the castle leads to the interior garden’s gate, which is guarded by five defense towers and castellated walls. The castle has got a ballroom and the apartments are situated on the first floor, some of which can be seen from the four floors of the tower. From the king’s apartment, one can enter the castle’s chapel, which has a stained glass-window with two illuminated bricks that can be lit using two buttons on the outside. The tower also has two balconies, one for the queen and one for the king.
